Fangzhou Inc., a prominent AI-powered healthcare solutions company based in China, introduced the once-a-week insulin shot named Kyinsu, which has been developed by Novo Nordisk. This launch boosts the partnership between Novo Nordisk and Fangzhou to provide effective diabetes treatments. The first country that launched Kyinsu in the market is China, which defines Fangzhou’s crucial role as a partner to Novo Nordisk.

Fangzhou intends to take advantage of its robust national supply chain to facilitate widespread accessibility of Kyinsu. The company will also benefit from its well-developed AI-powered chronic disease management environment. Kyinsu is an important breakthrough for the Novo Nordisk innovation program as it integrates insulin icodec with semaglutide. This facilitates the dose to target multiple issues that occur in type 2 diabetes.

This dose makes the treatment sustainable and promotes adoption as it takes up less time in the daily routine of patients in the long term, as compared to the conventional daily administration treatments. This treatment is also found to report fewer incidences of extremely low blood sugar issues during the course of chronic treatment. China has the world’s highest cohort of diabetes patients, with the total figure around 148 million. They contribute approximately 25 percent of the world’s diabetic population.

Insulin has improved the treatment quality of diabetes in the last 2 decades, but the problem of daily dose is still an issue, as reported by patients. They reported significantly worrying about low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and weight gain. The company also noted that medical research advancement itself does not ensure effective treatment delivery to patients, and they will utilize their AI solutions to help doctors provide optimal treatment to their patients.

Impact on the Healthcare Industry

According to Precedence Research, the launch of Kyinsu in the Chinese healthcare market is expected to boost the healthcare industry as it provides a sustainable and safer treatment for long-term diabetic patients. China contributes to a significant chunk of global diabetes patients, and the adoption of this dose in the national healthcare system will improve the net economic activity in the industry. As the treatment interferes less with the daily routine of people as compared to the conventional daily dose treatments, it promotes widespread adoption among the patients.

Impact on the Diabetes Drug Market

The global diabetes drug market size was valued at USD 75.09 billion in 2025, accounted for USD 28.82 billion in 2026, and is expected to reach around USD 138.83 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 6.34% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the introduction of Kyinsu will benefit the diabetes drug market as it provides an innovative and easier way of long-term insulin treatment. It also contains semaglutide besides insulin units, which helps obese patients lose weight, and helps in the long-term overall health recovery of the patient.

These added benefits would promote its widespread adoption among the Chinese diabetes market, which contributes to around 25 percent of global diabetes occurrences. The successful adoption of the drug will also promote other national healthcare markets to incorporate this drug into their diabetes treatment regimen.

Impact on the Type 2 Diabetes Market

The global type 2 diabetes market size accounted for USD 40.09 billion in 2025 and is anticipated to reach around USD 79.25 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 7.05% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the type 2 diabetes market will get a boost from the introduction of Kyinsu, as it integrates the diabetic control of insulin icodec and weight control of semaglutide. This drug targets multiple causes of diabetes and thus helps in the better management of diabetes using a single dose. Such an innovative treatment appeals to a wider range of patients as it provides holistic management and is also easier to sustain in the long term.

The sustainability resolution is important in the modern context, as diabetes is not just a condition that affects senior citizens these days, but middle-aged people and the young population as well. The working class needs a treatment that is easier to sustain alongside their hectic schedule.
