Gilbarco Veeder-Root is an international technology leader in the fuel dispensing and convenience retail sector. They have formally broadened their energy transition plan with the market launch of the Konecttm 400 kW All-in-One EV charging station. The announcement is a big step forward for the firm, as it has infiltrated the conventional fuel and convenience retail structure with ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging. The Konect platform is designed to address the operational gap between traditional fueling and next-generation electric mobility. This is specifically designed to serve forecourts, travel centers, and high-throughput retail locations.

EV Charging

The new Konect 400 kW charger has a peak output of 400 kilowatts and is compatible with both CCS1 and NACS (SAE J3400) connectors. This makes it compatible with the overwhelming majority of EVs currently common on the road, and those appearing in the market in the near future. At the same time, 400 kW chargers are becoming increasingly widespread throughout the EV infrastructure network. The Gilbarco Veeder-Root is making Konect the first ultra-fast charging system designed specifically for fuel and convenience retailers.

With the accelerating pace of global EV adoption, fuel retailers are under pressure to prepare their locations for multi-energy operations in the future. Gilbarco Veeder-Root's move into this space is part of the wider industry trend. As traditional fueling operators look to retain customer traffic and find alternative revenue streams. In addition to its headline power rating, the Konect platform has been designed with real-life retail environments in consideration. The system is compatible with existing forecourt layouts and enables centralized management, with the operator monitoring charging sessions, uptime, and performance via a single interface.

Energy management also takes a strategic change at the Konect platform to become more software-driven. Gilbarco Veeder-Root integrates charging hardware and software intelligence to support retailers in optimizing the use of charging devices, dynamically controlling pricing, and anticipating future energy services. With EV charging becoming a new service, rather than a novelty, these capabilities will be important differentiators. Furthermore, the introduction positions Gilbarco Veeder-Root as directly competing with established EV charging experts and also draws on its close ties with fuel retailers.
