Amid ongoing exploration of the potential use of AI across industries, with tasks similar to those performed by humans, experts warn that AI agents may make hacking easier and be used for unethical purposes by unauthorized users or hackers, raising concerns about its deployment among experts.

AI agents can perform tasks efficiently, like humans do, without human intervention, freeing them to focus on more valuable, core tasks that automation systems cannot effectively handle. These are basically programs that use AI chatbots to perform tasks like buying a plane ticket based on a consumer's high comfort level or adding events to the calendar as reminders. And all this is possible by offering prompts to these AI agents in simple human language, without any coding background required. Even non-technical people can leverage their abilities to improve planning. Hence, it becomes highly susceptible to misconduct by anyone who is planning to perform illegal tasks or threaten national security.
In this discussion, AI start-up Perplexity said in a blog post, “We're entering an era where cybersecurity is no longer about protecting users from bad actors with a highly technical skillset. For the first time in decades, we're seeing new and novel attack vectors that can come from anywhere.”
Such hacking ideas were not new to the computer world; hackers had been practicing them for many years, but previously they required clearly written, well-concealed computer code, which could be done by someone with a strong skill set in computers and coding. But now it has become easier to hack due to the evolution of AI into Agents that can perform every task assigned to them, even in natural human texts.
According to software engineer Marti Jorda Roca, people must be aware of the specific security risks associated with the use of agentic AI. Therefore, many leading AI companies have already installed defense systems and published guidelines to fight such a potential cyberattack, which is a relieving step in the rapidly evolving AI-powered world.
