In a major step toward eco-tourism and green mobility, Ilocos Norte has energized its first electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at the Agua Grande Mini Hydro Plant in Pagudpud. With this achievement, the region starts to focus on sustainable infrastructure and follows the province’s efforts to reduce its effect on the environment. The project was done with the joint effort of Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) and ACMobility. One of the great features of the station is a 120-kilowatt fast charger that powers up two electric vehicles. Because of Evro’s payment system, drivers find the hub simpler, and the place introduces electric transport across northern Luzon. A big step ahead for eco-tourism and green vehicles was made as Ilocos Norte opened the first EV charging hub at the Agua Grande Mini Hydro Plant in Pagudpud.
The station, which uses only renewable sources, is good for the environment and attracts tourists who visit this area with their EVs. Furthermore, benefiting from Evro’s platform, people driving electric vehicles in Ilocos Norte search for charging stations, confirm the availability of chargers, and make payments quickly through one app.
The special thing about this development is that the station is powered by renewable energy coming directly from the Agua Grande mini hydro plant. It delivers full charges to two EVs in just 45 minutes, and the 120-kilowatt fast charger is great for eco-minded visitors traveling in the region.
The introduction of EV charging infrastructure is expected to play a key role in Ilocos Norte’s move toward sustainability and enhance the suitability of the area for green travelers. The new station in La Union fills a huge gap, as there was nothing available nearby before, and it connects the EV network up north. Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc stated that the partnership is a fine example of supporting the environment and the economy. INEC offered the place and transformed the infrastructure, and ACMobility installed the charger and hooked it straight to the grid, opening the door for future sustainable projects.

“This is a worthy and noble partnership. We in the government must be ready for new vehicles that are eco-friendly. We hope this new facility attracts even more EV tourists to our province.”
