A leading company in India, SatSure, and Dhruva Space collaborated to launch Earth observation as a service. A memorandum of understanding has been signed by Dhruva Space and SatSure, combining sub-meter optical payloads from KaleidEO with analytics from Dhruva’s satellite manufacturing and launch infrastructure.
Dhruva Space and Satsure are Bengaluru-based rising start-ups in the space tech domain, aligning their aim to offer a fully integrated platform that provides Earth observation-as-a-service. To support industry-specific analytics, the collaboration aims to establish and grow upstream and downstream capacity, from payload development and satellite launch, as well as ground stations. The collaboration aims to provide robust, single-window solutions for consumers seeking high-quality, authentic-earth observation data, eliminating the need to navigate multiple vendors or international supply chains.
The founder of Satsure says, “This partnership is poised to boost our sovereign EO capabilities and create a complete package for end customers”. Hence, it can be concluded that earth observation is no longer a niche sector. It will offer easier access to such services, though it will take time to foster in developing countries. Many industries are increasingly adopting these geospatial technologies to achieve precise data. The new manufacturing facility at Dhruva Space in Telangana is expected to significantly reduce mission timelines by streamlining both testing and satellite production at the same location, showcasing its operational capabilities.
Dhruva Space is building small satellite platforms, providing services for launch integration, and establishing a manufacturing hub for spacecraft, all within a 280,000-square-foot facility in Hyderabad, which is reportedly the largest private satellite integration center. This plant is able to handle spacecraft weighing up to 500 kg. It also supports end-to-end operations like assembly, integration, and testing at the same time. Their platform not only offers structured data as per industrial requirements but insights packed with end-to-end analysis and customizable applications for every sector.
Dhruva Space is expanding its supply chain capabilities, while Satsure is focusing on building demand-driven applications, particularly for non-conventional space users. To reduce dependency on international vendors by enabling faster deployment, these firms are collaborating to offer a cost-effective, scalable, and agile EOaaS model.
