Kia India is poised to take a significant step in the country's electric vehicle (EV) market with its all-electric, zero-emission vehicle. The Kia Carens Clavis EV is expected to enter the country with an anticipated launch on July 15, 2025. It is a significant milestone in Kia's history in India, as the brand marks the end of ICE cars and hybrid tests to introduce a full-electric model, developed and customized to meet the needs of local consumers. The new EV is based on the well-liked Carens Clavis MPV and promises to offer a homely yet futuristic driving experience.

In an effort to empower the EV ownership ecosystem, Kia has integrated its K-Charge framework into the MyKia application, enabling access to over 11,000 charging stations nationwide. This national infrastructure is constructed in cooperation with 18 Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and is to cover both city-to-city highway routes and long-distance transport. Kia currently intends to expand its network to over 20,000 charging points by mid-2026. There is now also the added feature of the app, named the EV Route Planner, which helps drivers locate charging stations. This digital convergence positions Kia not only as an automaker but also as a facilitator of integrated experiences related to EVs.

Furthermore, with the intense rivalry escalating in the Indian EV market, global players such as Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Hyundai are making the necessary investments in localized manufacturing and research and development. Kia is framing an aggressive EV plan, making it clear that it aims to be at the forefront of the sustainable mobility race. The time of its launch, which is scheduled for the second half of 2025, may also provide it with an early-mover advantage in the yet-emerging mid-size electric MPV segment.

Executive’s Statement:

“We are confident that this will not only enhance the ownership journey but also strengthen our leadership in the fast-changing mobility space. The Carens Clavis EV is more than a product; it’s a gateway to Kia’s vision of sustainable, technology-driven mobility for all.”
