Ola Electric got regulatory approval for a new electric scooter in India’s commercial mobility market, targeting logistics, delivery, and fleet operations. The configuration of this new e-scooter was designed to focus on operating range, fleet utilization, and economics. These remain key priorities for fleet operators and delivery riders.

Momentous Growth of Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles have wide applications in commercial use cases such as quick commerce logistics, food delivery, and urban fleet operations. This revolution is caused by rising fuel prices, supply chain disruptions, and rising operating costs for commercial fleet operators and gig workers. These factors continue to depend on petrol-powered two-wheelers

In addition, policies are introduced in favor of electrification, including Delhi’s draft EV policy 2026, which boosts the transition toward electric commercial fleets. This policy proposes phasing out new internal combustion engine two-wheeler registrations within two years. Research by industrial analysts suggests that the electric vehicle two-wheeler market shows a significant long-term growth opportunity.

According to Precedence Research, the e-bike market size was calculated at USD 68.34 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 75.41 billion in 2026 to approximately USD  180.25 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 10.18% from 2026 to 2035, due to high-performance powertrains, smart electronics, advanced lithium-ion battery technology, eco-mobility, and government policy and subsidies. The growth of the EV two-wheeler market is also driven by faster replacement cycles and high daily vehicle utilization in delivery and mobility fleets.

Industry Impact and Market Outlook

The e-bike market is dominated by innovative direct-to-consumer brands, traditional cycling leaders, and micro-mobility players. These dominating players are Giant Manufacturing Co., Accell Group, Trek Bicycle Corporation, Specialized Bicycle Components, Merida Industry Co. Ltd., etc. Moreover, the core technology suppliers are Robert Bosch GmbH and Shimano Inc., whereas innovative, value-driven direct-to-consumer brands include Aventon, Velotric, Lectric eBikes, and VanMoof. The major product offerings are integrated automation, refined torque sensors, a long-range multi-passenger utility, cargo e-bikes, streamlined frame geometry, and many more. In addition, core technology trends targeted by R&D are IoT, smart connectivity, commercial and last-mile logistics, predictive maintenance, and safety and repairability partnerships.
