OpenAI Introduces EHR Integration to Bring Patient Data from Epic to ChatGPT

In September 2026, OpenAI launched a novel electronic health record integration to enable ChatGPT for Healthcare to access authorized patient information from Epic environments. The company also launched a Healthcare Public Data plugin to enable seamless and organized access to official healthcare information from various sources such as PubMed, DailyMed, and CMS Coverage.

These launches have provided ChatGPT access to platforms and sources that medical departments rely on, and also facilitated regulatory compliance.
