With the 30-second facial video as a method for gathering meaningful wellness data, Redcliffe Labs is making technology a starting point for enlightenment rather than clinical diagnosis. The Face Scan solution is based on the combination of both innovative computer vision and AI-powered signal processing methodologies, such as remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) and remote ballistocardiography (rBCG). These methods allow the system to get important physiological signals from a short facial video without any physical contact.

The tool is able to determine the most important parameters, including the heart rate, the heart rate variability, the breathing rate, and the blood pressure by comparing the subtle colour variations in the skin due to blood flow. According to Redcliffe Labs, the Face Scan tool is to be used solely as a wellness screening and early-awareness tool, and not as a medical device or a diagnostic platform.

Face Scan's introduction is also indicative of increased convergence of diagnostics, artificial intelligence, and consumer technology. Through the utilization of the devices people already use in their daily lives. Redcliffe Labs can eliminate such traditional barriers as cost, inconvenience, and fear that can frequently hold back people when it comes to getting involved in preventative healthcare. Moreover, with the increased pressure of non-communicable diseases, further creating growing recognition of digital health innovations as a key provision to supplement traditional healthcare infrastructure.

Aditya Kandoi, CEO of Redcliffe Labs, underscored the human impact behind the technology, stating, “Everybody has the right to have an easy way to keep track of their well-being. This is more than technology; it is 30 seconds of peace of mind. By making preventive analytics readily available, we are empowering people to take early, informed steps towards healthier lives and reducing the silent progression of lifestyle diseases.”
