In July 2026, Samsung Electronics unveiled intelligent eyewear at the Galaxy Unpacked event that took place in London. The company has used the foundations announced at the most recent Google I/O. The designs for the eyewear have been developed by prominent brands such as Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. This launch demonstrates the capability of Samsung to extend its portfolio beyond conventional electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, and televisions.

This eyewear has a lightweight frame and uses durable materials, which provide ease of use in routine life. Samsung has provided significant variants in terms of frame styles, colors, and lens types to provide a personalized experience to customers. According to Won-Joon Choi, the Chief Operating Officer of the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, AI models used in smartphones are increasing in capability in terms of performing agentic tasks. The usage of AI in eyewear is a next-generation innovation as it allows people to benefit from automation capabilities in their daily eyewear.

The company believes that, with rapid advancements in agentic AI, the technology ecosystem is not just thinking of how to improve the current offerings in existing sectors, but also how to introduce automation in sectors which have not conventionally adopted automation technologies. They intend to eliminate the necessity of a screen to access AI agents. The intelligent eyewear enables users to use automation applications while doing their routine tasks.

This product has a built-in camera that allows the digital system to host vision-based AI models such as computer vision, which can provide AI the capabilities to gather surrounding visual information and provide appropriate replies to the user's prompts. The company has used the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform for processing inputs and providing outputs.

The product can provide a summary for messages of extended length, provide audio output of important information, and perform translation tasks. It can also capture images and videos of the visuals as prompted by the user and save them in the memory, which can be referred to later. It also has GPS capabilities and can assist the user on current location and provide routes based on the destination provided.

Impact on the AI Industry

According to Precedence Research, the launch of the intelligent eyewear is expected to benefit the AI industry as it incorporates AI in a new sector that has not been explored earlier. It drives the demand for electronics and digital systems used to host AI models on the eyewear efficiently and safely. The usage of AI agents on eyewear requires significant research as it involves using tiny microphones that can listen to the audio command given by the user, electronics equipment that then converts the command into computer language, and AI models that process the command and provide the output. Such initiatives boost research and development investment as well as manufacturing infrastructure upgrades to produce reliable intelligent eyewear.

Impact on the Eyewear Market

The global eyewear market size was estimated at USD 160.00 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 170.24 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 297.53 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 6.40% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the eyewear market is expected to be positively impacted by the introduction of intelligent eyewear as it incorporates next-generation automation technology for customers to benefit from. It will help users save time and do multitasking, like they could continue their routine work while simultaneously running a job on the AI agent in the eyewear. This feature will also encourage users who have perfect vision even without glasses to use it to avail the hands-free AI technology, which would assist them in routine life.

Impact on the AI in IoT Market

The global AI in IoT market size is estimated at USD 92.47 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 99.09 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 171.03 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 6.34% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the launch of intelligent eyewear is expected to positively impact the AI in IoT market as it provides the usage of AI in IoT-based electronics systems in commercial use. This boosts the demand for AI model subscriptions, compact IoT equipment, and lightweight electronic components that can be attached to an eyewear frame and provide daily extended usability to customers.
