Savor Launches PCB Division to Bring Carbon Derived Fats to Cosmetics
Savour announced the launch of a new division called Personal Care and Beauty(PCB). This division aims to introduce carbon derived fats to the personal care industry. This is Savor’s first step into sustainable personal care and beauty products, beyond food ingredients.

Savor develops fats through a thermochemical process that produces fats from a carbon source, such as carbon dioxide without the use of plants and animals. In this way, the need for traditional farming is avoided, and the company prides itself in reducing environmental damage. There fats produce 90% fewer greenhouse gas emissions that those used in traditional tropical oils, such as palm oil.
Palm oil is commonly used in various products like skincare and haircare products and cosmetics. Nevertheless, the use of palm oil is associated with deforestation and ecological harm. The technology developed by Savor is meant to replace the chemical and other similar materials with cleaner sustainable alternatives.
This new division is rolling out with 4 major aims, palm free triglycerides, a vegan tallow alternative which is said to have same moisturizing benefits as animal fat. It also has ingredients which mimic the lipids found in the skin. There is also a petroleum-free protective fat which replaces petrolatum in formulations. According to Savor, these carbon-derived lipids are intended for various applications which include skincare, haircare, over-the-counter therapeutics and other personal care products. They are also working with various companies involved in the cosmetics industry to develop environmentally friendly products. This expansion of the cosmetics industry through Savor is expected to facilitate the transition from extraction-based ingredients to creation-based climate conscious materials.
