In July 2026, Tello General Trading Company Limited, an industrial chemical supplier, launched its operations in Juba, South Sudan. This is an important milestone in its objective of increasing its presence in the South Sudanese market. The company intends to supply specialty chemicals for oil production, mining, water treatment, and pest control. The landscape for business, infrastructure modernization, and resource extraction is transitioning rapidly since it gained independence. South Sudan is one of the youngest nations in the world by the average age of the population.

The debut and expansion of Tello General Trading Company is vital for the development of the nation’s petroleum, agriculture, and public water purification sectors. According to Machar Achiek Ader, Advisor on Crude Oil and Marketing at the Ministry of Petroleum, the country is delighted by the entry of the company and that its services are needed due to the country’s significant oil needs. He said that they need field chemicals for exploration, development, manufacturing, and marine terminals. He also said that when joint operating companies were moving out of Khartoum after independence, they should have come with them.

Ader acknowledged the initiative of Tello General Trading Company to partner with young entrepreneurs from South Sudan, which will aid in the development of the country. He also suggested that the company decrease its reliance on imports and set up a local manufacturing plant in the future, which will help to generate employment and strengthen local supply chains. The country currently has significant dependence on various countries such as Sudan, East Africa, and the Gulf for imports.

Zubair Taban Zakayo, the Director General for River Transport, is delighted with the entry of the company into the country and acknowledged the vital connection between supply chain and business. He said that a robust transport ecosystem is important for business development. He also said that the Ministry of Transport is prioritizing the synchronization between the global transport ecosystem and indigenous supply chains to facilitate the distribution from manufacturing areas to residential regions.

These statements are proof that the national government and the company are working together for the development of the country in various aspects such as technology, infrastructure, supply chains, and employment market development.

Impact on the Chemicals Industry

According to Precedence Research, the expansion of Tello General Trading Company in South Sudan is expected to positively impact the chemicals industry. This is due to the fact that various regions in South Sudan do not have access to clean water and chemicals required for good agricultural produce. The country needs better water supply, agricultural produce, and natural resources exploration to improve the quality of life of its citizens.

Impact on the Agrochemicals Market

The global agrochemicals market size is calculated at USD 242.49 billion in 2025 and is predicted to reach around USD 322.18 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 2.90% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the debut of Tello General Trading Company in South Sudan is expected to benefit the agrochemicals market. This is because the country’s farmers are underserved in terms of the supply of chemicals in various farming workflows such as crop protection, harvested produce protection, safe transport, and food preservation.

The country has a big chunk of youth population, resulting in a rapid rise in population, thus creating a significant demand for food. The company is expected to supply appropriate chemicals for all these phases of food production to ensure a hygienic and ample food supply to all South Sudanese citizens.

Impact on the Water Treatment Chemicals Market

The global water treatment chemicals market size is valued at USD 35.78 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 37.07 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 50.82 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 3.57% over the forecast period from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the expansion of Tello General Trading Company in South Sudan is expected to positively impact the water treatment chemicals market. This is because even today there are many people in the country who do not have access to clean water for drinking and for daily use. This has historically caused a lot of infections and diseases among the citizens.

The country does not have robust healthcare facilities, which results in various infections turning fatal. This has created a pressing need for the government to improve the supply of clean water throughout the nation. The company is expected to supply chemicals used for cleaning water and ensuring its hygienic distribution across the country. Such factors will result in an increase in demand for water treatment chemicals in the country.
