X (formerly Twitter Platform) launched an innovative transparency feature on the X platform, claiming to offer high-level authenticity and clear insights to users with whom they interact. This feature includes surface details such as the country or specific geographical location an account is operating from, how many times a user has changed their name, their original joining date, and how the app was downloaded onto the machine.

X head of product Nikita Bier has confirmed the changes, announcing on Sunday that the feature would go live within the next few hours. According to his statement, users will be able to access this data on any of their profiles by the sign-up date. This launch is an important milestone for the company’s stability and authenticity worldwide, while safeguarding the integrity of the platform for users, which he referred to as global Townsquare.
He further added that X is set to expand the range of verification tools presented to users so they can better recognize the authenticity of the content they consume while surfing the platform. Moreover, what makes it a highly sensible decision is that the accounts that support false speech or violent opinions that carry legal controversies, or personal risks, will be limited to showcase in that particular region, keeping that area at peace via a new privacy control feature.
The agenda behind this whole step is to curb inauthentic behavior and engagement by bots that majorly mimic real users. These activities were a challenge for X previously and have become even more complex in the age of AI-generated content.
Mr. Bier described this launch as a major leap for the X platform and publicly praised several engineers involved in the project for their dedication to making it an accessible feature. This update is now rolling out worldwide and providing users with additional context that may assist their interactions on the platform. By making this data public, the company expects users to trust its authenticity and efforts to address misleading information and false propaganda, which is a major concern amid growing generative AI content that looks almost identical to real videos.
