Zeus Launches PFX Platform, Redefining the Future of Catheter Materials Beyond Traditional PTFE
Zeus, the leader in polymer solutions worldwide, has unveiled the introduction of the next-generation materials platform, known as PFXtm. The new platform is a strategic change in the engineering of catheter materials. The emphasis is on better performance, increased design freedom, scalable production, and long-term sustainability. As the medical device OEMs undergo mounting pressures to be innovative, Zeus introduces PFX as an alternative to the traditional fluoropolymer-based products of the future.

Zeus also presented PFX Flextm Sub-Lite-Walltm, the first commercial product in the PFX range. PFX Flex Sub-Lite-Wall, engineered to be a high-performance alternative to film-cast PTFE liners. They provide similar lubricity and flexibility with solutions to the long-standing manufacturing and bonding issues. Zeus has made PFX a strategic and scalable platform and no longer a one-material solution. The company affirmed that more PFX-based catheter liners and heat-shrink items were already being developed, and several new products Launches forth are anticipated to launch later this year.
This platform-based strategy enables Zeus to react swiftly to new clinical requirements and regulatory trends, understanding that the OEM partners are assured that their adopted materials today will be sustained and expanded in the long term. Furthermore, the introduction of PFX is also an expression of the more comprehensive investment Zeus made in high-tech polymer science and its investment in co-innovation with its customers.
Executive Statements
Paddy O’Brien, Chief Executive Officer of Zeus, emphasized the strategic importance of the platform, stating, “PFX reflects how we think about innovation at Zeus. It’s about anticipating where our customers are going and investing ahead of that curve. With PFX, we’re extending our leadership in polymer science to help OEMs design what’s next with confidence, without being constrained by the limitations of legacy materials.”
Suresh Sainath, Chief Technology Officer of Zeus, highlighted the technical significance of the development, saying, “For a long time, PTFE was viewed as irreplaceable in high-performance catheter applications. The PFX platform challenges that assumption. It delivers performance parity where it matters most, while enabling new levels of design flexibility. This represents a meaningful advancement in catheter material science and opens new doors for device innovation.”
