Dr Dangs Lab Unveils Guardant Healths Shield Multi-Cancer Detection Test in India

Dr Dangs Lab has emerged as the first lab to introduce Guardant Health’s Shield multi-cancer detection (MCD) test in India. The pathology laboratory signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zydus Lifesciences Limited to facilitate the launch of this blood test, which has been developed by Guardant Health. Guardant Health focuses on the development of high-quality cancer treatments.

According to the report compiled by the Indian Council of Medical Research-National Cancer Registry Programme in the Lancet Oncology, the incidence of cancer is predicted to increase by about 12 to 15 percent in the future. The reasons for the rise in incidence can be attributed to the increasing mean age of the population, modern routines, increasing stress, and climate change.

Cancer patients in India are significantly underserved in terms of both diagnosis and treatment. A big chunk of cancers are diagnosed in later stages, which decreases the options available to treat the disease. The conventional tumor markers are proving to be ineffective against patients who do not have any symptoms. The Shield MCD Test utilizes the methylation technique, which helps it to recognize markers for various types of cancer, such as colorectal, breast, prostate, bladder, oesophageal, liver, lung, gastric, ovarian, and pancreatic cancers.
