In August 2026, i2Cool introduced the i2Coating CorroCool, which has been developed to shield metal surfaces from heat and corrosion. Kinte Materials Science and Technology Co. has contributed technical support for the development of this coating. CorroCool brings together i2Cool’s passive radiative cooling materials and a high-solids silane polymer system.

I2Coating CorroCool provides cooling, protection from corrosion, as well as weather resistance without the need for electricity, water, or mechanical cooling systems. It is suitable to be used on metal roofs, petrochemical storage tanks, outdoor electrical equipment, telecommunications cabinets, and other metal surfaces that are exposed to bright sunlight and corrosive chemicals for extended periods of time.

Industrial metal surfaces such as metal roofs, storage tanks, and outdoor cabinets are exposed to summer sunlight, and their surface temperature can reach 60 °C to 80 °C. Metals are efficient conductors of heat, and the exposed metal surfaces quickly transfer the heat to buildings, stored materials, and sensitive systems. This leads to faster aging of machinery and disruptions in process stability.

CorroCool makes use of a high-solids silane polymer as its foundational film-forming material. The curing process involves hydrolysis of silane groups to form silanol groups, which react with hydroxyl groups on the surface of the metal to form strong Si-O-metal bonds. This strong molecular bonding allows the coating to be affixed to the substrate. The process of condensation between silane molecules results in the formation of a high-density 3-dimensional network, which creates a shield against moisture and corrosive surroundings.

The dry film, which has a thickness of around 200 to 250 micrometers, has the following important features:

  • It gets chemically bonded to the metal substrate.
  • A high-density physical barrier against corrosive substances.
  • Nano-functional particles that facilitate passive radiative cooling.

Impact on the Chemicals Industry

According to Precedence Research, the launch of the i2Coating CorroCool is expected to positively impact the chemicals industry. This is due to the fact that it provides an integrated solution that facilitates cooling as well as corrosion protection. It gets chemically bonded to the metal surface and thus remains stable for extended periods of time without any degradation. It helps companies save a lot of money as it eliminates the need for specialized cooling systems and anti-corrosion substances. This coating is expected to be widely adopted in factories as it will help them slow down surface degradation and extend the lifespan of industrial machinery.

Impact on the Anti-corrosion Coatings Market

The global anti-corrosion coatings market size is calculated at USD 36.31 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 38.34 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 62.32 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 5.55% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the introduction of the i2Coating CorroCool is expected to benefit the anti-corrosion coatings market. This is owing to the fact that it provides an advanced solution to shield metal surfaces that are exposed to corrosive surroundings for extended periods of time.

It forms a very stable coating layer over the metal surface because it forms strong chemical bonds with the metal substrate. It also provides passive radiative cooling which is a significant advantage for industries, as they can save money because they do not need to implement specialized systems for corrosion protection and heat dissipation.

Impact on the Heating and Cooling Market

The global heating and cooling market size is calculated at USD 285.60 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 293 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 379.95 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 2.90% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the launch of the i2Coating CorroCool is expected to positively impact the heating and cooling market. This is because it provides an innovative way of heat dissipation from metal surfaces that are constantly exposed to high-temperature surroundings.

Such metal surfaces can efficiently conduct heat to vital industrial systems and disrupt their temperature-sensitive operations. This can cause immense financial losses to the company. This is the reason why the i2Coating CorroCool is expected to be widely adopted, as it provides passive radiative cooling.
