Nihilent Launches nSEPIA, an AI-Powered Emotion Detection and Emotional Wellness App
In September 2026, Nihilent announced the global launch of nSEPIA, which is an application that makes use of emotion detection technology in order to help individuals understand their emotional state and access interventions related to emotional well-being. The application will be made available on Android and iOS. The app is built around a three-step approach: understanding an individual’s emotional state, responding to it through a relevant intervention, and reassessing the state after the intervention. The approach is aimed to move beyond simply identifying or naming emotions by linking assessment with activities that may support emotional regulation.
Powering nSEPIA is Emoscape, Nihilent's medical-grade Emotion AI platform. Emoscape uses artificial intelligence, computer vision, and machine learning within its proprietary, patent-protected framework rooted in the Navarasa principles described in the Natyashastra. The platform has been evaluated through scientific and academic research for its ability to assess human emotions objectively. While Emoscape is designed for professional and institutional contexts, nSEPIA brings this emotion-awareness capability to individuals for everyday use.
The experience begins with a brief interaction using the device’s camera. The application analyses spatial and temporal movement patterns across the face and eye region, along with head and upper-body movement, to assess the user’s emotional state. The assessment is processed on the device. Based on the assessment, nSEPIA provides interventions across areas such as music, breathwork, yoga and meditation. Users can reassess their emotional state after engaging with an intervention, allowing them to observe any change and reflect on their experience. This creates a cycle of awareness, intervention and reflection.
The launch comes amid growing interest in technology-enabled approaches to understanding emotional well-being, including tools that seek to combine assessment with personalized interventions and reflection.

Impact on the Healthcare Market
At its core, nSEPIA follows a simple journey: to understand the emotion, respond to it, and then reflect on the change. Rather than presenting users with a library of wellness content and asking them to decide what they need, nSEPIA begins with the individual's emotional state at that moment and uses it to generate and guide a relevant response.
nSEPIA's intervention ecosystem brings together contemporary technology with established knowledge and practices associated with emotion regulation and well-being. Its musical experiences include Indian classical ragas, Western symphonic music and specially created compositions. Its meditation, breathwork and yoga experiences draw on established Indian traditions, including practices influenced by the B.K.S. Iyengar tradition, and have been shaped with inputs from relevant experts. Guided reflection provides an additional way for users to engage consciously with what they are feeling. The application also includes music, meditation, breathwork, yoga and guided reflection as part of its intervention framework. Impact on the Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Market
The global artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare market size is valued at USD 36.96 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 51.20 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 744.34 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 35.02% from 2026 to 2035.
According to Precedence Research, the vast exposure to tech development due to the increasing patient admissions in clinical and hospital settings contributes to the healthcare future. Whereas wearable medical devices act as a main steering to the responsible data evaluation for promising patient outcomes.
The growing adoption of digital technologies in the healthcare sector, owing to the growing need for reducing healthcare costs and offering enhanced quality patient care services to patients, is a prominent factor that is helping in boosting the growth of the global artificial intelligence in healthcare market. The surging prevalence of various chronic diseases and growing elderly population is resulting in an increased pool of patients at hospitals. The large volume of patient health data is generated every day, which is required to be stored and managed effectively. The growing demand for personalized medicines and the necessity of maintaining digital health records are significantly driving the artificial intelligence in healthcare market.
Impact on the AI In Healthcare Governance and Safety Market
The global AI in healthcare governance and safety market size accounted for USD 2.40 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 2.96 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 19.65 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 23.40% from 2026 to 2035.
According to Precedence Research, the market growth is attributed to the increasing adoption of AI-powered governance platforms for improving patient safety, operational transparency, and real-time healthcare risk management. Healthcare providers increasingly adopt governance platforms, explainable AI tools, and compliance monitoring systems across clinical environments. These technologies support hospitals' monitoring of algorithm behavior, identification of bias, patient data security, and regulatory compliance.
Increasing global regulatory scrutiny surrounding AI-enabled healthcare software is also expected to further accelerate demand for AI-based healthcare governance and safety technologies. Companies all over the world are increasingly moving towards AI compliance and investing in those that have continuous compliance management, automated reporting, and risk classification. Furthermore, the growing integration of generative AI into clinical documentation and administrative automation is anticipated to strengthen demand for advanced governance infrastructure throughout healthcare ecosystems.
Expert Opinion
Speaking on the initiative, Dr Vihang Vahia, Consultant Psychiatrist and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry, said,
“Emotions are integral to human behavior and well-being, yet understanding their impact has traditionally depended on what an individual can recognize, articulate or report. Bringing greater objectivity to how emotions are understood is therefore an important development. Having been associated with Nihilent’s work in this area, it is gratifying to see this thinking extended through nSEPIA, where insight into emotional state becomes the starting point for helping an individual move towards greater emotional balance.”
