April 14, 2026, Optical link demand is witnessing a notable surge in high-voltage (HV) fibre applications as electrification accelerates globally, with OMC reporting increased production activity to meet large-scale requirements from energy distribution companies. The company recently completed a major order involving custom industrial fibre-optic datalinks and optoelectronic cable assemblies, highlighting the growing reliance on fibre technologies in critical power infrastructure. Industry observers note that fibre optics are increasingly preferred in HV environments due to their inherent advantages such as electrical isolation, resistance to electromagnetic interference, high bandwidth, and improved operational safety.

To keep pace with rising demand, OMC has integrated collaborative robots (cobots) into its manufacturing processes, significantly enhancing production efficiency and boosting throughput by up to tenfold while maintaining quality and consistency. This move reflects a broader industry trend toward automation and smart manufacturing to address scalability challenges in high-performance optical systems. The company’s vertically integrated approach covering transmitters, receivers, and fibre assemblies also addresses a longstanding challenge in the market, where fragmented component sourcing often leads to inconsistent performance.

Experts indicate that HV applications across power generation, transmission, and distribution are increasingly dependent on robust and interference-resistant communication systems. Fibre optic links enable reliable sensing, monitoring, and data transmission in harsh electrical environments, making them essential for modern grid infrastructure. The ability to convert electrical signals into optical signals and back with high precision is becoming a key requirement for utilities seeking long-term system reliability.

According to Precedence Research, the fiber optic cable market size accounted for USD 18.50 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 20.42 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 49.76 billion by 2035 expanding at a CAGR of 10.40% from 2026 to 2035 driven by increasing electrification, renewable energy integration, and demand for high-speed data transmission infrastructure.

A recent report by Precedence Research highlights that the fiber optic cable market is benefiting from rising investments in smart grid technologies, expansion of renewable energy networks, and the growing need for secure, high-bandwidth communication systems across industrial and energy sectors.
