Peterbilt has officially unveiled its new generation of medium-duty battery-electric trucks, representing one of the company’s most significant steps toward zero-emission commercial transportation. The launch of the 536EV, 537EV, and 548EV models highlights Peterbilt’s commitment to accelerating the transition to cleaner, more sustainable transportation solutions. These advanced electric trucks have been designed to meet the specific needs of fleet operators moving away from traditional diesel-powered vehicles, offering a combination of performance, efficiency, and reduced environmental impact. With this expansion, Peterbilt aims to support the growing demand for environmentally friendly commercial transport while helping operators reduce emissions and operating costs.

Electric Trucks

Each model is based on Peterbilt's reliable commercial truck platform and re-engineered for a full-electric architecture. This provides zero tailpipe emissions, enhanced driver-assistance features, and a new design language distinct from the company's traditional trucks. As the commercial vehicle market undergoes rapid electrification, urban delivery, utility fleets, and vocational operators are leading the charge. Peterbilt's new medium-duty EV family positions the company as a leader in the future modernization of its fleet.

PACCAR has an advanced ePowertrain at the heart of its lineup, powering the 579EV and 567EV. This strong platform employs a midship dual-motor layout combined with a three-speed transmission to regulate power flow across diverse terrain and load conditions. The trucks have been fitted with LFP batteries, which offer long lifespans and stable thermal performance.

Peterbilt is also developing its charging ecosystem to facilitate the growing electrification of fleets. Collaborations with QMerit and Schneider Electric would also give this ecosystem added power since they offer fleet owners planning, site evaluation, installation, and maintenance services. Moreover, Peterbilt is showing interest in producing trucks and offering the full range to commercial fleets to switch to zero-emission solutions as regulations stiffen in the U.S., Europe, and various Asia-Pacific markets.
