Balrampur Chini Mills Accelerates Indias Bioplastics Future with Bioyug Green Command 2026
On June 5, 2026, Balrampur Chini Mills Limited and the Lucknow Cantonment Board officially launched the Bioyug Green Command 2026 in Lucknow. This initiative seeks to enhance India’s bioplastics ecosystem and highlight the significance of sustainable materials in mitigating plastic waste.
The event signified the commencement of a collaborative effort between Balrampur Bioyug and the Lucknow Cantonment Board, following the establishment of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Balrampur Chini Mills Limited's inaugural institutional order for compostable polylactic acid (PLA)-based products earlier in the year.
Indian Government is Transforming the Bioplastics Ecosystem
The launch event was graced by the presence of Shri Rajnath Singh, the Honorable Defence Minister of India, who served as the Chief Guest. The program incorporated an exhibition that showcased the bioplastics value chain, keynote addresses, and a ceremony to honor outstanding female students from Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).
Mr. Vivek Saraogi, Chairman and Managing Director of Balrampur Chini Mills Limited, articulated that the shift towards sustainable alternatives presents an opportunity to establish new industries and enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities. Ms. Avantika Saraogi, Executive Director, noted that the development of biomaterials empowers farmers and fortifies the concept of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), asserting that future materials will be derived from agricultural processes rather than traditional mining.
The event also featured two panel discussions entitled "Mandate to Market: Unlocking the Bioplastics Value Chain in Uttar Pradesh" and "From Mess to Mission: Bioplastics for Defence." These discussions addressed critical topics such as policy support, manufacturing capabilities, and the significance of sustainable materials in defense establishments. The dialogue engaged over 2,000 stakeholders from various sectors, including government, industry, academia, and civil society.
