Butterfly Network, Inc., a leader in digital health and whole-body ultrasound imaging, has announced the launch of Compass AI. The latest addition to Butterfly Networks' enterprise software platform has been announced as being designed to transform point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) programs. Through artificial intelligence (AI), Compass AI removes workflow bottlenecks and maximizes revenue capture, maintains compliance, and increases overall efficiency in health systems.

Compass AI has the potential to improve documentation compliance, allowing a health system to achieve up to 5 times the revenue with the same clinical volume. Compass AI is not limited to documentation; it is used across departments and devices to build an integrated imaging ecosystem. The portal enables administrators to have real-time visibility into usage, credentialing, quality indicators, and financial performance. This enables hospitals and healthcare networks to expand POCUS programs without fear.
Picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), single sign-on (SSO), and seamless integration with electronic health records (EHRs) ensure that images and study data are directly channeled into medical records. The system's strong capabilities, including AI-powered documentation, quality control, fleet management, and program dashboards. Further, this allows health systems to sustain clinical governance and improve patient care and system operational efficiency.
The Butterfly iQ, iQ+, and the most recent Butterfly iQ3 handheld ultrasound devices by Butterfly Network. They are used in conjunction with Compass AI because they offer portable, high-resolution imaging that can be deployed at any location, including urban hospitals and remote sites in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. The software, which uses AI in combination with mobile ultrasound devices, enables health systems to deliver high-quality care and improve providers' economics.
Joseph DeVivo, President, CEO, and Chairman, Butterfly Network
“Health systems want to expand POCUS and capture more value, but they’ve been held back by undocumented exams, compliance risk, and administrative burden that take clinicians away from patients. Compass AI changes that. It gives organizations workflows and interoperability to manage POCUS programs at scale, with no blind spots, no fragmented care, and no added risk. To me, it’s a path to easy money: capturing value that was already there, just being missed.”
