In September 2026, Mahajan Imaging & Labs and Chennai-based Neuberg Diagnostics formed a strategic joint venture in order to help expand their footprint across North India. The partnership is designed to integrate two distinct but complementary areas of diagnostics: radiology, where Mahajan Imaging has a strong presence, and pathology, genomics, and wellness testing, which are central to Neuberg Diagnostics' operations.

The collaboration is set to bring together Neuberg’s pathology and genomics capabilities, clinical and operational expertise, multi-market experience, and IT and digital infrastructure with Mahajan Imaging and Labs’ experience in radiology, Nuclear Medicine, PET CT and advanced diagnostics, along with its presence across Delhi NCR and Jaipur and clinical expertise.

As the exclusive partner for seven states of North India, Neuberg will also leverage Mahajan Imaging and Labs’ regional presence and existing pathology capabilities to expand its network. Through the partnership, Neuberg will also collaborate with Mahajan Imaging and Labs to strengthen and integrate its presence in the existing labs that are located in Noida, Lucknow, and Jammu, further reinforcing its footprint in the region.

Neuberg Diagnostics has previously expressed plans regarding an initial public offering (IPO) in the coming years. Consequently, market observers may track how this new joint venture performs as the company potentially moves toward its future public listing goals. The key monitorable for the business will be its ability to achieve operational efficiency, maintain consistent profit margins while expanding, and effectively integrate these two complex diagnostic verticals.

Impact on the Healthcare Market

The collaboration comes as India’s organized diagnostics sector expands beyond conventional testing, with demand for preventive, specialized, and precision diagnostics. ICRA, formerly known as Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency of India Limited, estimates that organized diagnostic players could see 12–14% revenue growth in FY2027, supported by wellness testing, specialized services and deeper penetration into non-metro markets. The partnership will involve investments in laboratory infrastructure, collection capabilities and advanced testing. The two organizations will work towards greater integration across pathology, imaging, nuclear medicine and genomics.

The joint venture aims to move away from the traditional model where radiology and pathology operate as separate diagnostic silos. By combining these services into a single platform, the companies aim to offer a more comprehensive range of health services. The operational strategy further focuses on optimizing sample logistics, integrating digital health platforms, and reducing the time taken to provide patients with test reports. The integration of artificial intelligence is also planned to streamline workflow management and maintain consistent quality as the network expands.

Impact on the Pathology Laboratories Market

The global pathology laboratories market size is calculated at USD 412.06 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 445.77 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 896.19 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 8.08% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the field of pathology has been transformed by technological advancements, bringing forth innovative tools and techniques that enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and precision of diagnosis. For instance, digital pathology enables seamless sharing and analysis of digitized tissue samples. Pathologists can collaborate remotely and access extensive reference databases with ease. Additionally, the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms into pathology workflows holds immense potential for automating routine tasks while streamlining processes and improving diagnostic capabilities.

Moreover, the field of personalized medicine and genomics has also brought about a remarkable transformation in diagnostics and treatment. This advancement has opened unprecedented possibilities for enhancing healthcare. Pathology laboratories play a vital role in driving these breakthroughs by providing essential services like genetic testing, molecular diagnostics, and customized treatment plans tailored to an individual's unique genetic composition.

Impact on the Artificial Intelligence in Genomics Market

The global artificial intelligence in genomics market size is valued at USD 1,086.61 million in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 1,503.86 million in 2026 to approximately USD 25,860.87 million by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 37.3% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, factors such as increasing demand for precision medicine, rising R&D expenditure, and growing demand for effective handling tools for managing large data are some of the major factors driving the growth of the global artificial intelligence in genomics market in the coming years. Over the years, a significant rise in clinical diagnostic workflows has been increasingly integrated with AI-powered processes to help in disease diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment selection. AI algorithms assist clinicians in making more informed decisions and improving patient outcomes.

With the rapid advancements in AI technology, AI-powered software solutions are also increasingly being developed that are designed for the genomics industry. These solutions are becoming more sophisticated, allowing researchers to analyze and manage genomic data more effectively. The growing demand for effective tools for handling large data is expected to propel the growth of artificial intelligence in the genomics market in the coming years. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are capable of handling huge datasets with ease, which allows researchers to achieve results with greater efficiency and accuracy.

Expert Opinion

Kabir Mahajan, Chief Executive Officer, Mahajan Imaging & Labs, said,

“The priority now is execution. We will focus on strengthening the pathology, genomics and wellness capabilities, strengthening collection and sample logistics, integrating digital systems and improving turnaround times across the network, all while continuing to uphold the highest standards of quality, accuracy and clinical excellence that Mahajan Imaging & Labs is known for. We also see significant scope for technology and AI to support quality control, workflow management and reporting. The measure of success will not simply be how many centers we add, but whether we can deliver a consistent experience, reliable reporting and efficient access to a wider range of diagnostic services as the network grows.”
