Prime Minister of India Introduces USD 187.8 Million Worth of Projects in Andhra Pradesh
In August 2026, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated many development projects worth USD 187.8 million in Bhogapuram in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. These projects are related to various sectors such as aerospace, clean energy, semiconductors, and connectivity. This initiative is intended to accelerate the economic development of Andhra Pradesh and increase its contribution to the future vision of transforming India into a developed nation.
Prime Minister addressed a gathering and revealed the government’s vision for “Swarna Andhra” and that this inauguration is an important milestone in achieving that goal. According to the Prime Minister, these projects related to aviation, clean energy, semiconductors and connectivity will boost the development of the state. He also said that the event was iconic not only because of the inauguration of the projects, but also because of the cultural programs. It included a traditional Dhimsa dance which was performed by 13,000 tribal women.
The Bhogapuram airport was inaugurated at the same location where the legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju dedicated his life to the upliftment of tribal communities. Prime Minister also declared that the airport would be named after Alluri Sitarama Raju so that every passer-by can get inspiration about patriotism from him. He said that the central government is working to make the state’s coastline a prominent economic hub.
He said that the nation is consistently improving its blue economy and has the vision of transforming the region into a coastal economic corridor. He said that the ports from Visakhapatnam to Krishnapatnam are being enhanced and new ports are being developed in Mulapeta and Ramayapatnam. He also spoke about allotting funds for AI, data centers, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. He proposed a Google campus and a prominent pharma facility in Nakkapalli.
The central government has also proposed significant investment in the Rayalaseema region for the development of renewable energy and has given assurance that the proposals would definitely convert to job opportunities and regional growth. There have also been initiatives to develop semiconductor manufacturing in the state to help the state become a production and infrastructure powerhouse.
