In June 2026, T1 Energy Inc. announced a merger agreement with KORE Power for industrial and data center developments. This acquisition not only strengthens T1 Energy’s position in rapidly expanding energy storage but also provides an entry into the expanding AI data center infrastructure and utility-scale battery energy storage.

T1 Energy Drives Energy Expansion with USD32 million KORE Power Acquisition

In this acquisition, T1 Energy is acquiring KORE Power for approximately USD 32 million, including equity, cash, and assumed debt. This deal is anticipated to be wrapped up in Q2 2026, pending shareholder approval, with a majority already in support. KORE Power’s NRI division is considered a significant part of the acquisition because it specializes in utility-scale battery energy storage systems, has deployed around 1,100 projects worldwide, and has strong domestic software development capabilities.

After the acquisition, T1 Energy also plans to rebrand KORE Power as T1 NRI to further its domestic energy infrastructure strategy. This strategic push aligns with the increasing necessity for battery energy storage owing to the higher electricity consumption, renewable energy utilization, and the expansion of artificial intelligence data centers, which are capable of supporting grid stability and ensuring continuous power availability, with forecasts predicting substantial growth over the coming decade.

Jay Bellows, CEO of KORE Power, remarked that this acquisition will benefit customers by creating a seamless, end-to-end energy platform. This approach integrates power generation, energy storage, system design, installation, and long-term support.

Impact on the ICT Industry

The T1 Energy acquisition of KORE Power is shaping the ICT industry by dealing with the increasing power necessities of AI data centers. It not only allows ICT and cloud infrastructure players to access integrated, localized, zero-carbon energy storage solutions but also ensures uninterrupted uptime and grid resilience, besides hyper-scale energy consumption.

An exceptional adoption of AI is driving heavy data center power requirements. By integrating KORE Power's NRI division, which mainly designs and deploys large-scale energy storage and software, T1 can build dedicated on-site power solutions by assuring grid resilience as well as rolling operation for ICT hyperscalers.

Large tech players are significantly looking to meet net-zero commitments. The integration of domestic solar arrays with a battery energy storage system allows the ICT industry to leverage continuous renewable energy without impairing server uptime or reliability. The expanding domestic capabilities in battery storage and solar manufacturing reinforce supply chains by making data center infrastructure less vulnerable to global disruptions.

Rather than tech companies buying solar from one vendor and battery storage from another, This acquisitioned T1 Energy platform facilitates commercial and industrial ICT clients with an end-to-end service by efficiently taking charge of system design and generation to ongoing operations.

Impact of the Data Center Battery Market

The global data center battery market size accounted for USD 5.10 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 5.79 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 18.01 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 13.45% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the data center battery market is booming in utility-scale battery energy storage systems by combining solar generation and battery integration under a single unified energy solutions platform. T1 gains access to KORE's NRI division, which has completed approximately 1,100 energy storage projects globally, positioning it for lucrative growth, supports domestic clean-tech manufacturing, and aligns with preferences for onshore solar and battery supply chains.

To overcome supply chain complexities and high costs through vertical integration and nearshoring, lower shipping challenges, and ensure compliance with domestic sourcing requirements for tax credits. Securing long-term Power Purchase Agreements, along with on-site battery energy storage systems, assures a stable renewable power source. Intelligent battery management systems and energy storage optimization software allow data centers to engage in grid flexibility services, generating additional revenue.
