Vishay Advances EV Safety with Automotive-Grade EMI Capacitor Launch

Vishay Intertechnology has made a revolution in the field of passive electronic components with the launch of the SMDY1 Automotive Series, the first automotive-grade ceramic disc capacitors with a Y1 safety rating in a surface-mount device (SMD) package. The new SMDY1 capacitors have 500 VAC and 1500 VDC rating with capacitance of up to 4.7 nanofarads. Vishay can endure Class IIB level humidity conditions per the IEC60384-14 annex I and requires the 85 °C/85% RH, 1000-hour test, to prove the durability of the SMDY1 series under high-stress automotive conditions.
