SCTIMST, Tata Elxsi sign MoU to develop healthcare technologies
In July 2026, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Elxsi to collaborate on the development of healthcare solutions. The MoU was signed at SCTIMST, Thiruvananthapuram, in the presence of senior leaders from both organizations, including Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director, SCTIMST, and Manoj Raghavan, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Elxsi, along with members of the healthcare, research, and technology leadership teams from both institutions.
Under the collaboration, SCTIMST’s expertise in cardiovascular sciences, neurosciences, biotechnology, and clinical sciences will be combined with Tata Elxsi’s capabilities in product engineering, design, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital technologies. The organizations will work together across diagnostics, medical imaging, digital health, biomedical engineering, medical devices, and related healthcare technologies for India and global markets.
According to the organizations, the partnership will establish an extended innovation and engineering environment for Tata Elxsi, its customers, and healthcare partners by bringing together clinicians, specialist researchers, laboratories, prototyping infrastructure, and product engineering capabilities within a collaborative ecosystem. The collaboration is also expected to support MedTech companies in developing, validating, and scaling products, while strengthening capabilities in biocompatibility, toxicology, and related areas.
The MoU establishes a framework for joint research, academic engagement, technology development initiatives, and intellectual property creation through project-specific collaborations. The initial phase of the partnership will focus on identifying opportunities for collaborative development.

Impact on the Healthcare Market
Today’s healthcare landscape is quite complex, with patients often requiring care from a variety of specialists. In this environment, effective collaboration among doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals is no longer a nicety; it is essential. Collaboration ensures that patients receive comprehensive care by bringing together professionals from different disciplines to address various aspects of their health needs.
Healthcare professionals possess diverse skills and expertise. Collaboration allows them to pool their knowledge and experience to develop optimal treatment strategies, particularly in complex cases where multiple perspectives are necessary for accurate diagnosis and management. This multidisciplinary approach allows for a more holistic understanding of patient conditions and leads to more effective treatment plans.
Collaboration also helps healthcare organizations optimize resource allocation by coordinating care delivery and avoiding duplication of services. By working together, healthcare professionals can easily streamline processes, minimize inefficiencies, and make better use of available resources to meet patient needs effectively. This further promotes a seamless and coordinated patient experience. When healthcare providers work together, patients benefit from smoother transitions between different stages of care, reduced wait times, and a more cohesive approach to addressing their concerns, leading to greater satisfaction with their healthcare experience.
Impact on the Healthcare Information Systems Market
The global healthcare information systems market size accounted for USD 588.39 billion in 2025 and is predicted to reach around USD 1,956.49 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 12.77% from 2026 to 2035.
According to Precedence Research, the rising prevalence of chronic diseases, the growing geriatric population, and rising incidences of road traffic accidents are resulting in an increasing number of hospital admissions. The huge volume of patient-related data needs to be efficiently managed and economically stored. The growing need for eliminating paperwork is boosting the growth of the global healthcare information systems market. The most commonly used healthcare information systems include electronic health records and personal health records. The increased government investments in the development and digitalization of the healthcare infrastructure have made significant contributions towards the development of the global healthcare information systems market.
The government initiatives to digitalize the healthcare facilities are a major contributor to the growth of the market. Moreover, the developmental strategies, such as new product launches, partnerships, and collaborations, are major factors that influence the growth of the healthcare information systems market.
Impact on the Healthcare Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization Market
The global healthcare contract development and manufacturing organization market size is estimated at USD 268.23 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 291.03 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 600.45 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 8.39% from 2026 to 2035.
According to Precedence Research, the market is driving due to growing outsourcing of drug development and manufacturing, increasing biologics production, rising demand for specialized expertise, and expanding pharmaceutical and biotechnology pipelines worldwide. The increasing outsourcing of drug development and production, the rise of biologics or cell and gene therapy pipelines, and that there is growing demand for flexible production capacity explain the growth of the CDMO market. Moreover, the increase in regulatory pressure pushes firms to partner up with experienced CDMOs to comply with quality requirements and use modern production methods.
Artificial Intelligence transforms the field of healthcare CDMOs through the enhancement of efficiency in drug development, manufacturing, and quality control. Through the use of analytics powered by AI, process improvement efforts are accelerated, production variations are identified, and predictive maintenance is implemented. Machine learning algorithms also contribute to formulation development, optimizing bioprocessing parameters, and enhancing the consistency of production batches. AI ensures quality assurance by automating inspection, detecting anomalies, and monitoring in real time.
